Getting printer status information via Python?

Hello. There is a small problem. It is necessary to keep statistics on the state of printers somehow for yourself. At the moment, in order not to go around objects, sometimes I take statistics myself, sometimes I ask a few groping users to go into the settings and send a scan of the printout. I would like to invent some kind of software so that she collects it all on her own. Of all the statistics, you only need how much is left of the cartridge, and how much is printed on the printer. I suppose to use a python for this, but I don’t know which way to dig. Can someone come up with an idea? What libraries, or how to send a request to the printer so that it gives an answer about its status.
