Geodesy + IT. Path options?

There is confusion in my head. I'm trying to build a clear algorithm of actions. For help, opinion, advice - I turn here.
I study special "Applied Geodesy". At the moment in the army, the brains are getting in line, there is a clear desire to do/work/study, by the time now there is a completely different attitude. I will finish my second course next summer.
The questions are: If you combine geodesy and code, what can it be turned into? Is it worth it at all? What directions are possible? Do surveyors work directly in YandexMaps ? What languages to study? Go for an internship somewhere or try it yourself/remotely? Is geo-freelance in demand at all?
There are many questions in my head. I will be glad to opinions, reasonings, answers.
Thank you.

Surveyors do not work in Yandex maps, they have their own maps and their own software, you cannot combine geodesy with IT in any way, only in parallel and independently. In addition, for a surveyor in the fields, work on the road interferes with it-activities. There are those who work in the cadastral chambers, but there is completely their own ready-made software.

Surveyors use all sorts of CADs, such as AutoCAD. Accordingly, I have little idea of what you are going to code there, but you can see what specific cads they use and see how to write plugins for them.

If we take work with maps directly, then I would single out 2 areas:
1) Automation of applied tasks using the built-in programming language (Arcgis Desktop (Python), MapInfo (Basic), AutoCAD (VBA, Lisp), free QGIS (Python), etc.) .d.);
2) Publishing maps on the web, transferring desktop functionality to the web.
Companies that use any GIS must apply clause 1. Of these, a certain percentage (I assume that more than half) apply paragraph 2 to one degree or another (starting from simply showing a static map).
There are not many vacancies related to the development of GIS. In general, in the field of applied GIS development, knowledge of programming languages, databases and performance issues is 90-95% important.
As for the choice of programming languages for learning, I would start with Javascript and its use in the API of J. Maps, Google Maps or OSM.

You can write and rewrite/maintain existing software... In general, the IT sphere is paired with almost any kind of activity of groups of people. Simplifying or making easy the next assigned tasks ...
