FTP layout?
The client, for certain reasons, offers to make up via FTP immediately on the host.
on ftp never made up.
I type less + gulp, etc.
gulp can somehow be configured for layout on ftp, in general, is this practiced?
or lift the price tag and make up the old fashioned way in css?

What does it mean to typeset directly on the host?
It happens that they ask you to make a page immediately on a working site.
If the customer has a regular shared hosting, and it always happens, rarely anyone has a vps, then you can’t put a node there. And even if vps, then you should not climb with your samovar either.
You can set up a local gallp, everything is as usual, only specify the proxy to the remote site in the browser. Plus, add a task that will upload changes via ftp. All this will be wildly slow and uncomfortable.
Or you can copy the page for yourself, make it up as it should, and upload the result to the client.
Without access to the gulp/less host, you can't start it there. Either build locally and upload a ready-made build, or take a lot more money
Make up at your own request, make a separate task for minimization and uploading for sale, this is definitely in the tasks.
gulp ftp
As far as I know prepros has something for imposition under ftp
