What can you say about this connection? Is it really faster than linux + php-fpm?

We need tests for specific tasks - because, firstly, different schedulers, secondly, different nginx access to system calls (kqueue etc.) and thirdly, as it was written earlier, changing system parameters.
But, apparently, nginx works better under fryakha - rambler, yandex work in just such a bundle.

Upgrading nginx and php is definitely easier on FreeBSD. The necessity of tuning the system for highload and exploitation by the author on FreeBSD has already been mentioned above. Sysoev, apparently, is pleased with the speed, there is no reason not to believe him =)

There is hardly any noticeable difference. With which OS you are more familiar and which one you know how to tune better, install that one. Here it is more important to throw out unnecessary PHP extensions, fine-tune the number of php-fpm processes, decide whether it will work through binding to a port or UNIX sockets, etc.
