Free SSL certificate (StartSSL)?
In the search for a free certificate, I found the only site - StartSSL
Actually, I'm interested in 2 questions:
1. If I purchase a free certificate from them, after the expiration date, can I again order a certificate for the same domain name from them for free?
2. Is there a limit to applications for free certificates from one account on StartSSL?

By the way, they promise to launch https://letsencrypt.org/ soon , I'm waiting for them.
1) you can
2) I took a few pieces, I didn’t seem to meet restrictions, but I think they are
1. You can, only there will be a new one.
2. As far as I know, after passing the verification, you can make as many certificates as you like.
Yes, they give a free ssl certificate, it can be renewed for free too. I myself used and use for one small project. There are no tricks.
I can’t say anything about the restrictions on the number. I ordered only one certificate. But there are other restrictions, if I'm not mistaken, then only an individual can be a customer, but not a company.
You can also get a free certificate here: https://buy.wosign.com/free/
By the way, there is also DANE. When it is supported by everyone, you will be able to use a self-signed certificate at all. This is really a step forward.
I haven’t seen free SSL yet, it’s better not to risk it, there’s a catch, it’s better to take SSL from those that have been tested for many years.
I've been using it for several years now, no problems.
The main thing is not to lose the certificate for entering your personal account. Password recovery will not work.

Yes
> 2. Is there a limit to applications for free certificates from one account on StartSSL?
No.
But there are plenty of other restrictions. For example, their free certificates cannot be used for commercial purposes.
You can renew, recently they give a certificate not for a year, but immediately for 3!
Someone wrote that the main thing is not to lose the certificate for entering, it will not be possible to restore it. Nonsense, everything is restored through the mail.
The process is well described here.
