We chose nanoCAD , we use it together with persons. AutoCAD LT, the engineers did not seem to have any complaints about the nanocad.
If for relatively simple drawings and plotters, Inkscape is probably suitable.
If for electronics, you can try KiCAD.
As options:
- Google Sketchup
- Sweet Home 3D
If not for commercial purposes, then you can also look here: progeCAD 2009 Smart
There are free ones.
PTC Modeling Personal Edition 3.0

All free cads are hacked to death.
Alas, I didn't use it.
https://tinkercad.com/ - online tool for 3d modeling, good
http://www.opencascade.org/ - this is the highest quality and professional solution from what I know - http://en.wikipedia. org/wiki/Open_CASCADE
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/3D_computer_graphics_software - here is a good overview.
http://math.nist.gov/phaml/ - this is not quite a cad, it is a "blank" for a good cad - a finite element modeling system. This is if you need a basis for developing your own.
I advise you to look also at https://sourceforge.net in the appropriate category, but there are a lot of imperfections.
