Formatted the SD card as internal memory. After that, the computer does not see free space on it. What to do?

Good day to all!
The situation is the following. I installed a 16 GB SD card in the phone, formatted it as internal memory according to the instructions, of which there are plenty on the Internet. Everything is fine, the phone sees a space of 16 GB and with 4 GB filled.
However, when connected to a computer (Win 7) via a USB cable, the explorer shows that 0 bytes out of 4 GB are free. And naturally refuses to copy anything on this card.
What did I do wrong and how to fix it? Downloading all the files via the Internet on the phone to the card is not an option.
Thanks in advance for your reply.
I forgot to say: the phone has Android 6.

Now, the card is formatted in ext4, win does not know how to work with this file system. You can try using EXT2FSD or other software that provides support.

When formatting a memory card as internal, further work with it is possible only as with internal memory. That is, when you connect your phone to a computer, you need to move the files to the internal memory of the device.
