For GTD: Evernote or SpringPad?
I think what to choose to transfer my cases from Todoledo to combine with my text data.
Evernote
+ tree-like unlimited tags - you can make any structure of projects and areas of responsibility and people with whom I work - drag and drop them with the mouse
+ brought to mind offline and android clients
- somehow expensive and only a gig per month
- there is no type of note there, which means you can’t click and feel that the job is done :)
SpringPad
+ everything is free and as much as you want
+ there is a type with a checkmark and in general a bunch of data types like pictures, links, tasks, task lists.
+ there is a virtual board in each notebook where you can drag notes
+ it can import the name of the notepad and tags from the mail letter
- a strange organization of information: the tags are inside the notepad - they are sorted flat and by the date of the last addition, the entry can be added to many notepads but not by dragging and dropping, but by a bunch of clicks, notepad tags. I do not understand at all how to turn this into a GTD process.
- online and there is no client for the desktop = it works slower,
maybe I forgot something else, I didn’t use them much, but read the reviews. Evernot seems to also have many data types, but it is very scattered with plug-ins (like recipes and an address book)
, what did they use, what are the pitfalls?

I tried springpad first, now I'm trying to switch to evernote, Subjectively:
- springpad on the web works much faster than evernote
- the variety of types in springpad only worsens the structure of notebooks - each type has some kind of limitation, and sometimes you need to combine it all
- reminders in springpad work very strangely , but in Evernote they are not at all.
- there are checkboxes in evernote - there is such a tool in editing the text of a note (checked on android and wine versions).
Conclusion: so far I feel more comfortable in Evernote, but I'm afraid that the limitations of the free version will not be enough
Haven't tried SpringPad, only Evernote.
My observations:
+ tree-like unlimited tags
There are no tree-like tags there.
That is, they can be combined into a tree - but this is only for the beauty of their location.
In fact, they are not treelike but flat. That is, there is no search by tags taking into account subnodes of the tree, there is no possibility to create elements in the structure with the same names, etc. Combining nodes into a tree makes sense only if you work with nodes as with folders - but this is an inappropriate use - it will no longer be possible when there are a lot of tags. It is assumed that you will create filters by tags - and for them there is only a flat structure.
Therefore, they introduced an additional layer for combining notebooks - a stack. That is, now there is a two-level hierarchy of notebooks.
On the Internet, they offer numerous perverted options for organizing tags, such as adding prefixes to some tags, etc. - but all this is very similar to the workarounds around the missing functionality in the evernote.
Maybe I'm wrong, of course, and something has changed there lately - if wrong, then correct me.
+ brought to mind offline and androyd clients
It's true. Everything is done perfectly - only the android client is heavy and it seemed to me not very convenient to use it as a quick notepad - but this is subjective.
- somehow expensive and only a gig per month
I have enough free account - although I use it actively. The price is certainly decent - but still adequate. In addition, it is a promoted brand and popularity - hence the great opportunities for integration with other applications.
- there is no type of note there, which means you can’t click and feel that the job is done :)
It generally doesn’t have a lot of things. In fact, evernot is not a simple service, but a basic platform for all such services. That is why he is so simple and focused on his main business. All the goodies and extensions with the help of third-party plugins - and their number is growing by leaps and bounds.
I would also recommend looking towards Microsoft One Note. He is also cool in his own way and there are a lot of things in him that the Evernote did not even dream of. And in cloud services, Microsoft is striving to the fullest.
over the past two years, Evernote has received updates in which the minuses have changed to pluses:
1) the premium subscription now gives 4 GB per month (but the free version is only 60 mb)
2) lists have appeared, including checkboxes with the ability to put checkmarks like there
3) by high cost - if you buy through softkey, the subscription is less than 1000 rubles. it appeared more than a year ago, like a promotion, and still works.
they also continue to refine the versions, I personally use desktop, browser and android. I don’t use workchat, I can’t say, but the exchange of notebooks is super
