Finding a File System for a Virtualization Cluster

Good,

There are about 10 virtualization servers based on Linux. VEs are hosted locally on servers.

Desire:
Organize distributed fs on servers to be able to migrate online. + reservation.

If anyone has any experience in using distributed file systems, please share.

Thank you.

Raise a separate piece of iron with a pack of screws and distribute LVM partitions via iSCSI. Distributed FS in this case (for virtual machines and not just file storage) will become a very big brake, besides split-brain resolution on such installations is not trivial. If you want not to play around, but to really work, see specialized pieces of iron.

Of all the cluster file systems, GPFS is the most normal, although paid. Just read the documentation on GlusterFS (there is not much of it) and I think you will no longer want to use it =)
However, for your purposes, even GPFS can have its drawbacks - as I understand it, your storages will simultaneously play the role of clients, that is, read data from itself and other nodes. And if so, it is better to ensure the physical presence of the file on the machine that reads it most often. Not sure if GPFS can do this

Use DRBD, if it is possible to allocate a separate interface for it, with any fs, or lvm + iscsi. In general, it is not clear, as a rule, block devices are used for migration, and not fs. What kind of virtualization do you have?
