The help indicates that it is possible to import both into a file browser and into a document, as well as copy-paste.
Dragging an SVG file (very simple!!!) into a FIGMA document - NOTHING HAPPENS!!! Desktop version

1. Take any SVG file, download something from flaticon.com
for the test 2. Be sure to open the folder where this SVG is located, do not drag and drop files through the browser.
3. While holding the file with the mouse, drag it directly onto the canvas.
This works on all systems.
