Failing memory or motherboard?

Hello, there are two sticks of RAM, one is
Rendition 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz
, the other is
Transcend 2 GB DDR2 800 MHz
Everything worked fine for about a year, now the problems started. Computer freezes and nothing can be done. I take out the bar of RAM with Rendition and everything works fine. This is all under win 7, when I reboot into linux mint, lo and behold, all 4 gigs work fine. When I run two bars together in memtest, they start working again, though not for long .. Tell me what could be the reason?

I think one of the slats died for a long time ... I myself encountered a similar problem - the solution was to buy a new memory slat.
