But I can’t even imagine how to process it less resource-intensive.

The answer is already contained in the post - create an array of terms. This will not be a resource-intensive operation, after all we are not in 1999.
Also note that in the layout of the specified site, many phrases that clearly should not be translated are wrapped in elements of the form <code class="w3-codespan" /> .
