Events in MSSQL

Always worked with Firebird and very little with MSSQL. Firebird has events like:

post_event 'recmsg';

Actually in the program itself (which I write in Delphi) I process it using the SIBfibEventAlerter component , where I tell it what to do if such an event is true .
Is there something similar in MSSQL? Or is it possible to organize something similar?
