Erlang/Elixir Do I need to disassemble Erlang before learning Elixir? Or not?

Works as I understood everything on one VM. The question is, is it possible to live with Elixir without Erlang?
And advise sensible resources (going beyond helloworld).

For a deeper understanding of the processes going on inside - of course you need. Especially about OTP and design patterns.
In general, Elixir makes code more abstract, but it's much easier to shoot yourself in the foot.
