"Endless page" of search results, to implement or not?

I want to implement an endless page (results loading) for the selection results, but the question is how visitors will react.
Yandex introduced such a system habrahabr.ru/company/yandex/blog/127766 in 2011 , but then refused.
Google also embed www.youtube.com/embed/Grr1arPxX0E?rel=0 but is not available now.

Is it inconvenient only for search engines or in general? I have a selection of questionnaires on my site, does it make sense to do it?

Help make a decision.

It seems to me that “endless” scrolling is already familiar and understandable to everyone, but the following is often missed when implementing it:
- with infinite scrolling, it is impossible to quickly estimate the number of search results and the “viewed / left to view” ratio by eye. With a regular paginator, this is clearer.
- with such a scroll, the links located in the footer of the site become unavailable (this can be found on VKontakte, where you can’t get to the footer either from the personal profile page or from the news)
- as already noted in the next answer, you need the ability to quickly return to changing search parameters.
- this problem often arises: a person scrolled through an endless list for a long time, followed one of the links, and then pressed the “back” button in the browser and returned to the very beginning of the list, and now you need to scroll again for a long time to get to the place where you left off .

Don't forget to change the page url when scrolling so that you can copy the link to the search result to the place where the user is, and not to the first page.

I don't think it's worth it. Consequences are clear and all described. Good old pagination to help you.

in the same VK, this was implemented a long time ago, quite convenient, just do not forget to take into account the possibility of a quick return to the top of the page. or make the block with filters fixed, and under it already scrolled the content, respectively, the scroll will go, the parameters can be changed without scrolling the page to the very beginning

I’m only looking for pictures on Google beyond the first page, and I think that many do this. If I don’t find it on the first one, I immediately think about changing the request - why should I load the next page at the same time.
On the other hand, I don't like pagination, like on a toaster. I would prefer a download. Accordingly, I recommend that you consider As a navigation, I would recommend not only a link up, but also a link - to return, as it is now done in contact: if you click on the left edge and immediately again, then you get exactly the news on which you clicked on the left edge.

In addition to what is indicated above ( "Endless page" of search results, to implement or not? ), you need to think in advance about how the loading of new data will be implemented. Otherwise, you can get duplication or loss of fragments.

click the "next" link, for example, and load new or old data or change them with your browser simply
