Empty media in File Explorer!?

There are empty photos and videos somewhere in the phone's memory. Which are displayed in the gallery of messengers empty, so that's where these empty media can be. Xiaomi redmi 7. There is no info on the Internet at all

If there are images in the gallery in the form of empty squares - these are the remains of cached .thumbnails, it seems and they can be safely deleted, I strongly recommend looking at the file system with adequate file managers like total commander, I also recommend analyzing the space occupied by something like Storage Analyzer & Disk Usage ( builds a size chart of the space occupied by files and directories)
photo files can be stored not only on a memory card (or external storage, part of the internal disk used as an external storage) but also on internal memory, the files may have been deleted but the thumbnails remain there, you can make a backup copy all media and clear app data - camera
