Elasticsearch 5 why immediately the 5th release is still being released 2.x?

Just out of curiosity, subj. I have been observing for a long time that new alpha versions of ES appear periodically, but why 5? Not 3.x-4.x, but 5???

From what I understand, they want to align the major versions of their main products (Elasticsearch\Logstash\Kibana\Beats). The largest among them right now is Kibana 4.5.1, which brings us to the 5.0 release.
In general, a good question, I also don’t understand why two major versions are suddenly missed and there is not a word about it in the patch notes.
