Easy solution to compress an image on upload?

In a small photo blog, I want to upload photos directly from the camera / phone without unnecessary gestures.
Some without compression in jpeg can weigh> 2 mb. What ready-made solutions in php can be looked at to reduce images, and at the same time lose a minimum of quality?
Desirable final size - up to 300 kb.
