Duplicate Internet channel on a laptop via a USB flash drive?

The apartment has a wi-fi router, but the provider is not happy with the reliability, and from time to time the Internet can disappear for 5 minutes or a couple of hours.
To work, you need a stable Internet, so I'm thinking about a backup channel. I look towards the USB modem. Moreover, it is desirable that at the moment when the "main" Internet disappears, the USB modem itself starts working.
In this connection, the question is - is it possible to keep the modem constantly plugged into the laptop (during operation) and be simultaneously connected to two networks? When wi-fi is working, then all traffic goes through it, and when wi-fi disappears, then traffic goes through the modem.
If this is not set up automatically, then how best to organize everything?

You can keep both connections constantly connected, you don’t need to configure anything additionally (well, except maybe set wifi as a priority so that the Internet goes through it first)

Insert the flash drive into the router. Set up a backup route for it. Now that the primary route is unavailable, the packet will go through the backup.
