Dropbox + Ubuntu: update, icon replacement
I will now ask stupid questions about Dropbox under Ubuntu. Who knows the answers, please help. I will be grateful.
1. How to update the Dropbox client under Ubuntu?
On the dropbox.com website it is written that the latest version for Linux is 1.0.20
. I see among the installed packages in my system:
Dropbox integration for nautilus v0.6.7 (nautilus-dropbox)
And in the properties of the dropbox itself I see: Dropbox v0. 7.110 Installed
i.e. It's clear that I don't have the latest version.
Their site says that, they say, if you install Dropbox from a .deb package, it will automatically add the Dropbox repository to the list of repositories. However, this did not happen.
Manually added to the list of repositories:
http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu maverick mainand also imported their public-key:
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver pgp.mit.edu --recv-keys 5044912E
sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get upgrade nautilus-dropbox
~/.dropbox-dist
a subdirectoryicons
and threw in PNG files of monochrome icons, restarted Dropbox - there is no result. install_dropbox_icons
" to replace the Dropbox icons - it also writes that everything has been replaced, but the result is not visible. Answer the question

Their repository contains Dropbox integration for nautilus (nautilus-dropbox), which is very rarely updated (it's just a menu for nautilus).
To update the Dropbox binary client itself, just run the following commands in the terminal:
$ dropbox stop
$ dropbox status #It should show "not running"
$ rm -r ~/.dropbox-dist/
$ dropbox start -i
Then the binary client will downloaded latest version.
