Does this or that CMS impose restrictions on the development of website design?

Hello!
Sometimes, in published projects on freelance exchanges on the topic of web design, they indicate that the site will work on Joomla, 1C, Wordpress, etc. What should the mention of a particular CMS tell a web designer? Are there any differences in the development of the site structure for them? If so, how significant are they, and what can be read to avoid possible errors?

Yes and no. Or rather, some CMS impose, some impose to a lesser extent, some more
... can be changed/upgraded.
Bitrix - according to my data (I personally did not dig deep) also imposes rather minor restrictions.
Drupal - generates almost the entire layout, it's quite difficult to change something, because the logic of naming classes and some "conclusions" in the layout is hardwired at the level of the CMS itself and not infrequently system modules.
Joomla, Wordpress - as far as I remember, they also impose some of their styles, although not so much.
* this is in addition to what the previous speaker said, of course, no one has canceled the limitations of the engines themselves, although this does not apply much to layout / design in the context of your question.
If so, how significant are they, and what can be read to avoid possible errors?
"Substantiality" depends on the CMS, to read - it is best to read the source codes of the proposed themes, open several sources from different manufacturers, the more identical or extremely similar elements in the layout you find, the more likely that "this" particular piece is wired at the output level in CMS.

Yes, CMS imposes banal restrictions - the presence of certain components and features in the engine. For example, the disinger decided to draw cool tree-like comments, but the engine does not have them, as well as the budget / time / desire to bring this creative to life. How to avoid it? Very simple - install popular engines and feel for yourself what is there and how.

See my answer for MODX.
The same is true for other CMS.
What is the difference between the process of layout under ModX and a site without CMS?
