Does the server application need to know the client's real IP?

PS:
Couldn't find a tag to put it in.

Due to the peculiarities of routing and NAT in my network, the end server application does not see the real IP address of the client, but sees the address of the intermediate gateway as the incoming IP address.
How often is this scheme used? Should the server know the client's IP address? The network has a firewall.

Everything depends on your requirements. If the server needs a real api then nothing. For example, to account for traffic. And so in general, a real api is not needed
