Does setting proxy_max_temp_file_size=0 make "temp file" infinite or disable temp files altogether?

My download of files from the server is interrupted by 1GB.
Tell me please, if proxy_max_temp_file_size is set to 0, will I disable file buffering or allow these files to be of any size?
I would like to disable buffering so that I can give static files via a direct link.
