- AutoCad, Compass.
- Visual Studio.

For study, it's fine. Moreover, the Compass in version 18 has become much more cheerful. To load the system to the eyeballs even with a thesis is unlikely. But by that time, something more powerful and highly specialized will probably appear at your disposal.
From a personal point of view: I dealt with CADs and video editors on a typewriter (i3 4030u, 4gb 1600, 1gb 820m, hdd 5400, w7 32x), I didn’t experience discomfort, it’s quite possible to work.
