Is it worth learning XSLT and where can it come in handy? Thank you!

Directly "teach", probably not. It doesn't hurt to understand how it works.
In banks, for example, they use xls and are not going to refuse.

Not sure what to study there? If you need it to solve a problem, well, you take it and master it, just like any other tool.

Look, there are a lot of other things that should be mastered in a higher priority.
For general erudition, of course, you can, but this is not a must-have.
The only place where I came across it was in the Umi.CMS templates.
bem-xjst, as a modern analogue, I think it will be more useful to master.
