Does it make sense to come up with complex passwords?

My question is: is it necessary to come up with complex passwords, or will they not hack us, ordinary users?

short answer: the longer the password, the harder (the longer it takes to break) to crack / pick up.
those. password fGyr[1 will be cracked faster than 1111111111111111 (16 characters) original
ps this is if it concerns "brute force" - by the selection method (for example, in hydra )
p.s.s. and so, if the data is not transmitted over a secure connection (for example, via the http protocol , not https ) - then it doesn’t matter what the password is, with MITM - it will be seen in its entirety
the purpose of hacking is not always selfish. Sometimes this is "entertainment" or even "training", and who will be the "object" is not important (whether it be a VK user or mail, or a skinny online store)
psss. using 1111111111111111 is certainly not worth it, but at least like this: 1111111111111111_ms

It all depends on WHERE this password is: if on any garbage, then you can get by with one universal one.
But for important purposes (bank accounts, mail, work, etc.) it is highly desirable.
From myself, I can recommend the KeePass program - it will generate a password, remember it, and save it encrypted. But it will take some time to get used to.

Do we need to come up with complex passwords or will we, ordinary users, not be hacked?

They will hack not you, but your accounts, not even knowing about your existence. Robots work and brute ALL resources around the clock.
And it’s VERY easy to come up with an unforgettable complex password (+ hint in the same post above)
