If the question is theoretical, I think it makes sense, but only taking into account the constant enumeration of proxies and several attacked addresses (not constantly hammering into one, but alternating) + a break between requests.
However, I also think that most sane services (Yandex, Google, etc) are blocked when entering from different ip and when trying too often. I myself, of course, dofiga couch, so this is just my opinion.
Again, IMHO it is wiser not to stupidly brute, but to use a dictionary with the top popular passwords (they have been repeatedly posted on the network lately by all sorts of different companies), then the chance increases dramatically.
