Does EDGE enabled affect phone functions in android?

I have an HTC Sensation. Acquaintances often complained that there was no connection with me on a regular basis. I myself did not experience any problems - when I needed to call, I called. The thought arose that this could be due to the constantly on mobile Internet, made an experiment, turned it off. The problem seems to have disappeared - complaints about the lack of communication disappeared.
Recently, I turned on the mobile Internet again, again they began to complain about the lack of communication.
Is the Internet connection through the edge really to blame? What to do if you want to quickly learn about incoming letters and generally enjoy the advantages of a modern phone, but not lose the ability to receive incoming calls?

Yes, I have the same white with HTC at Drua SE, but the trouble is the same when it is connected to the “tyrnets”, then someone may not get through, since the neighbor, when he started repairs, says if they don’t drill at the right time, hammer the wall, call, and dial me , I hold the phone in my hand, he says that I am not available, we are standing on the site, the phone is in my hands, at this moment I will receive an SMS that they are trying to reach me but I am not online ... xs what to do about it

it depends entirely on the opsos, or rather, on the implemented GPRS class. Quote from wiki

  • Class A - implies simultaneous use: you can simultaneously make / receive a call and receive data. As of June 2005, class A devices are not being produced.
  • Class B - implies automatic switching between sessions: in between sessions of receiving / transmitting data (even if the session is not interrupted), you can make voice calls.
  • Class C - implies the use of only one type of service, used in GPRS modems.

In all modern devices (smartphones, for sure), Class A support is present. So, it seems - either change the operator, or turn off the Internet

The case is not MTS? On the beeline, there seems to be no such trouble.

The problem is very common among gprs/edge users. Unfortunately, Russian operators do not use the GPRS Class A mentioned above. If there is no 3G in your area, then the only solution to the problem is to keep the Internet off and activate it only when necessary.

In general, if you use GSM (GPRS / EDGE) data transfer, not always with an incoming call, priority will be given to dialing (voice traffic). This depends on the settings or the operator's equipment itself.

But there is no such program that turns on edge once an hour, makes synchronization, and turns it off?
