Does cold calling work?

In general, like many others, I encountered the fact that the freelancer, to put it mildly, was tired. For a long time I worked with one intermediary, from his words it turned out that cold calling works quite well, that is, he found various companies that do not have a website or have one, but it is so-so. Well, of course, I convinced them to order a site with promotion (they didn’t deal with scammers, they did everything honestly and with a guarantee).
I have 3-4 recommendations from my regular clients, I have a small portfolio (sometimes I have to remove sites that the customer has abandoned or have been bullied by freelancers) + I plan to make my business card/portfolio website.
Does this method really work? Or, as many have said, is it better to turn your portfolio through the director and adwords?
A couple of times I saw similar topics here, but I passed by and now I can’t find it.

You need to try different channels to promote your services. For example, offline events and word of mouth work well for me.
Are you going to offer websites to companies?

I don't think it works. On the contrary, it is very infuriating when another site ripper Vasya Pupkin calls the company and offers to do everything, even if everything suits. It’s better to rivet a business card site, and if anyone needs it, he will find you and order it himself, rather than bullying people with garbage that they don’t need at all.

I was in a company where they set up an experiment and tried to find clients using this method.
They hired a good salesman (he only talks like that), exhausting several orders from hundreds of calls.
More than $100 for a site is very difficult to break through. Those. for a normal payback, it is necessary to rivet with a conveyor.

It all depends on your sales script that you use in your cold calling, if everything is done correctly, then 100 calls - 100 sales, or at least 100 target customers) customers by phone)

Of course it works. People wouldn't do it if they didn't work. I guess it even works very well.

works. After all, a lot of all sorts of call centers .. make texts for them, and teach them to convince .. impudent advertising, but working. People do believe. Although, in my opinion, contextual advertising www.i-media.ru is more loyal

We need to build an economy and a business model.
Cold calls work if you know how to make them. like everything else.
Learn, try, experiment, record everything, analyze everything.

if you have ready-made templates and a conveyor, then you can) Formally, purely, as a service of sale, not a service. Well, you won’t get mad in front of a person who is so stupid that he doesn’t even know that the Internet is needed for business ...

Do cold calls work - yes, of course. Otherwise, they would cease to exist as a tool. Specifically, in your case, you need to clarify 2 points:

  • How effective is the freelancer (number of calls, conversion, etc.)
  • What model do you pay a freelancer

If you pay your intermediary for each client you bring in, then you shouldn't stop cold calling. At least until you find a more effective (in terms of cost per lead reduction) promotion channel. And if you pay a freelancer for the hours worked, then here you should start from the efficiency of your intermediary. And if the results do not suit you, then this is a reason to refuse the services of a freelancer, and not the cold calls themselves.
In general, for interest, instead of a freelancer, you can try a voice robot. For example, MTT has a robot for calling customers voicebox . It works on the basis of AI through speechkit, so it can recognize real speech. Such a thing just suited me for cold calls (there are a lot of custom scripts), and not for ordinary notifications and informing.
In terms of money, it will be much cheaper than a freelancer, the only caveat is that you need a database of numbers that the robot will call. Of course, a good salesperson will be 100% more efficient than AI, but you will be able to save on scale.
Well, the second point: which is better - cold calls or advertising your portfolio? Both this and that. If you have a budget, use different promotion channels. Even in matters of advertising, you should not be limited to Direct and Ads, at least you should try targeted advertising. A lot of companies have pages in social networks, but do not have their own website, even a banal business card. If you explain to the owner what benefits he will receive from at least a small landing page, then you will surely get a ready-made client.
