I use Wsl, everything is ok, but I mainly develop on vps

Put the virtual machine on Hyper-V. There will be no surprises, and memory 512, in my opinion now this is nothing at all

Wait for wsl2 (it seems to be coming with May updates).
Advise to use or not - I can not, not a backender)

As an SSH client, so that you don’t fool around with Putty. ffmpeg is still sometimes on the little things.

For your purpose it will be unnecessarily sufficient. I recommend SUSE.
