Does anyone know how the AudioContext API works in Google Chrome?
There is a very interesting article on AudioContext Fingerprint on Habré:
https://habr.com/ru/company/globalsign/blog/475586/
It is clear that there are plugins for browsers that will block an attempt to make a fingerprint.
But I'm interested in something else, how can I disable any use of sound in general from the browser (in particular Chrome), in principle, if it is not needed there?
I did various tests on a virtual machine, and I check it on the site https://audiofingerprint.openwpm.com/
At first I turned off audio playback in the chrome settings, it did not help.
Then I completely turned off all audio devices in the device manager, it also did not help.
Next, I already turned off the use of audio in the properties of the virtual machine, and the result remains the same.
So how does this work if, in fact, sound drivers are completely disabled in Windows?
