Do you need an antivirus for mac os x?

On the avast website, I noticed a version of the antivirus program even for linux and mac os x platforms.
For the sake of interest, I decided to put the antivirus version under os x.
Everything is clearly set, works correctly, just wonderful.
Well, an experiment is an experiment, but still - is it really important to use an antiviral agent under os x and linux?
Are there many viruses for these platforms?
Especially if the user does not work under administrative rights - is he fully protected?
Or is installing an antivirus program under os x and linux a pointless operation that will only "eat up" system resources?
Is this relevant for os x latest versions?

I don't install antivirus under Windu either. If you have a head and do not climb on the left sites and download the left programs, then Windows is completely protected.

Сколько пользовался iMac и MacBook Air не устанавливал антивирус на данные устройства, они действительно есть (вирусы), это никто не будет отрицать, но изначально для разработчиков вирусов эти платформы не очень выгодны тем более macOS

У меня Macbook Pro, и за 2 года использования у меня был только один вирус (я даже не помню, как я его занесла на комп). Мне помогла Malwarebytes Anti-Marware, всю бяку быстро очистила и до сих пор проблем не знаю. Ресурсов много не жрет

ну как вариант антивирус может спасти вас от ситуации когда вы отправите кому-то из друзей/коллег заражённый файл. вашему маку некритично, а тому человеку, с виндой, который будет доверять полученному от вас файлу - будет не очень приятно...
как пример ситуации зачем может понадобиться.
сам антивирусами на маках не пользуюсь.
