Do the good guys use apt-get or aptitude?
Hey!
Actually I want to know the difference between the two package managers and what will eventually replace the other?

There is only one package manager - dpkg.
apt, apt-get, aptitude are just frontends for dpkg.
Yes, what is more convenient, then it is worth using.
For DevOps scripts - apt and dkpg
For manual work - aptitude
This is a matter of taste for everyone. Someone likes the command line, and someone likes a graphical interface (albeit a text one). For some time now, aptitude
was recommended for Debian , but once the problems with apt were resolved , the latter was recommended.
Is there some more
cupt , which is being developed by a former apt developer. Allows more fine-grained package management. I think it's more suitable for upper intermediate level. It needs to be installed separately and preferably the latest versions.
