Do nvidia-dkms and nvidia interfere with each other if installed at the same time?

I have a standard linux kernel and have the nvidia package installed.
I decided to experiment: I installed linux-zen + nvidia-dkms + linux-zen-headers.
It seems that the performance of steam games has become a little better. CSGO runs smoother due to fsync.
But the question is different. Is this correct:
If I choose a custom kernel (zen) when booting: then nvidia-dkms will be used.
If I choose the standard kernel when booting: then the nvidia driver will be used.
? So I won't have to remove the nvidia-dkms package if I decide to go back to the stock kernel?

If the dkms driver (legacy driver for older cards) was only installed for a single kernel, it will not be used by the other kernel. If necessary, you can also replace the used driver on the main kernel.
