Do I need to stick to a specific divisor or powers of two in sprite size?

When drawing sprites in pixel art for a 2D game, do I need to stick to certain divisors to resolve sprites, or should it always be a multiple of two?

Then all the same, in a high degree of probability you will glue it into an atlas, so it does not matter.
But the atlas itself is already adjusted to the minimum power of two.

Are you making a game for some prehistoric console that doesn't support numbers greater than 2^3? Or maybe the game engine can only work with squares? If there are no such restrictions, then there is no reason to adhere to something there. Draw in a way that is beautiful and comfortable.
