Do I need to change the counter when changing the site structure?

Google Analytics

On the one hand, why not leave it, it will be convenient to see traffic changes.
On the other hand, there will be a hodgepodge of old and new site page addresses (?).
Perhaps, I googled badly, I did not find a direct answer, as if it meant that a new counter remained.

I don’t see any point in changing the counter when replacing the site structure.
