Do I need a master's degree in IT?

In 2020 he graduated from the university, bachelor. Due to several reasons, including personal ones and the fact that at that time I did not work in my specialty, it was decided to enter the magistracy, full-time department. On a budget.

Last fall, I was hired by a company, and at the moment I’m satisfied with everything: I’m getting experience, it’s interesting to work, and the salary (given my little current experience) suits me.

However, I can’t say the same about the university: there is absolutely no interest in the learning process (some topics are almost the same as at the bachelor’s), I practically don’t get useful knowledge for myself, my personal needs have already been met, I’m running out of strength to stay on the master’s program .

Why are you still in graduate school? For the most part, the influence of parents, which resulted in several of the following issues:

  • Is a master's degree in IT really necessary? Is it necessary for "upgrading"?
  • Is he needed in leadership positions (in the distant potential future, do you need a master's degree to become a leader in a company)?
  • In foreign IT companies?
  • What do you think, will there be "tricks" from the state in the future, that the bachelor's degree will somehow depreciate greatly, etc.?

Let me remind you that these questions are mostly caused from outside (especially the last one). Now I have reached a critical point and I need to make a decision: to stay in the magistracy or not? So far, the minimum effort has been invested in completing the master's program.

I think that the university is not worth mentioning, since it somehow does not affect the picture.

Well, MIT and some provincial sharaga are still slightly different.
It was decided to enter the magistracy, in the full-time department. On a budget.

Ah, cool, cool, but... why the hell?
Is a master's degree in IT really necessary?

Come in handy. You can brush them off in the heat for example. It's easier to just buy it though.
Is it necessary for "upgrading"?

Che?
Is he needed in leadership positions (in the distant potential future, do you need a master's degree to become a leader in a company)?

No.
In foreign IT companies

About 99% of universities in the CIS do not know anything.
Why are you still in graduate school?

Obviously, because you are incredibly smart to waste time without getting anything in return.
What do you think, will there be "tricks" from the state in the future, that the bachelor's degree will somehow depreciate greatly, etc.?

This is so crazy that I don't know how to respond to it.
Summarizing your question:
I'm sitting in my pants in a noname-sharage (this is the second time for a campaign). Mom and Folder said they would give me a belt if I didn't get another piece of paper. Terrible! What to do?
Answer: Listen to your parents! Continue to go with the flow, and always give all important questions to be solved by different non-names on the Internet. You will definitely come to success!

In private IT, experience and practice are much more valued.
In state - achievements, although usually one higher degree is enough
. In foreign - see "private"
I would say that in an enterprise, an ordinary tower + a set of specialized CCNA, CCNP, etc. will be more valued. certificates than the abstract peel "Master of Engineering"

You are already working, why the hell do they ask you a diploma at work? If not why ask nonsense

Now connoisseurs of higher education will come running and begin to tell that without it there is no way and nowhere, but in fact they don’t even look at a diploma even where it is postulated as mandatory.

During the past autumn, they hired a company, at the moment they are satisfied with everything on it:

Is a master's degree in IT really necessary? Is it necessary for "upgrading"?

Well, why can't you ask right where you work? Do they bite or kill for substantive questions?
You have a specific employer who pays you real money. Who can personally offer you a promotion. But no, you should go ask random people about how it works in OTHER random companies.
The answer is: EVERYWHERE IS DIFFERENT.

A master's degree is like good underwear, no one sees it, but it adds confidence.
It is necessary - it is not necessary to better decide for yourself, because. in many cases it is not needed, just show off. IMHO
And so - for killing your time and just for pride for yourself - you can get it.
