Do I need a "close" button in iOS applications?

Question for Apple users. Official guidelines recommend abandoning the application close button. What do you think? And where can it be placed?
PS The client is hysterical, says he wants the application close button)

Have your customer show you at least one app with a close button. And then let him think about how people close applications on iOS (hint: no way, they close themselves when the memory starts to run out)
