1. They may well withdraw for examination "for the company" with other equipment. The fact that this is a personal laptop is at the workplace has yet to be proven. Responsibility will be borne by employees personally, and not by a legal entity.
2. Generally, the license agreement allows one copy to be made for archival purposes. Look in the license text of your distributions.
