Django, Python. How to authenticate a user with a given key?

There is a web service to which a third-party application must connect via a web-api through a key. How to authenticate a user with a given key? As an option, you can @csrf_exemptиcontinue to get the key from the request manually, but this solution seems doubtful to me from a security point of view.
