Django + gmail = 504 Gateway Time-out.. Why?

I send an email about user registration via gmail.com
Locally, everything is ok on the development server, everything is registered and the soap goes away.
In production, the registration is successful, but instead of the message "ok", after some time, it shows "504 Gateway Time-out", although the soap successfully leaves through gmail.
I do not understand in which direction to dig. Tell?
