Disk partitioning issue when installing Ubuntu 14.04?
I decided to switch from win8.1 to ubuntu 14.04.
There are two distributions: 14.04 x32 (ubuntu studio alena, xs, what does this mean, downloaded from the tracker) and the official 14.04 lts x64.
Previously, when choosing the type of installation, there was such a choice: erase the entire disk, put ubuntu next to Windows, or mark it manually (for experienced ones).
In the latter option, it was possible to select the size of the partition for ubunta with the mouse.
So it was until today, I did not install the system, I just went through the first steps of the installer.
Today I decided to install and see the following options: Windows 8 is installed on the computer, what do you want to do?
1. erase the disk and install ubuntu (here it also suggests using lvm).
2.you can create and modify partitions by yourself.
About the installation next to Windows, not a word.
The distributions are the same, recorded on blanks a month ago.
I can’t understand what’s the matter, I need to save Windows for a while, and there is a lot of data on the disk.
True, yesterday I launched the Windows chkdsk with the keys, f and r, the program started at system startup and could not advance further than 15%, I tried it twice, then spat on it.
Checking the disk by Victoria showed that everything is ok.
What is this crap, how to deal with it?
