Ubuntu is updated more frequently.
Plus: you will be able to use new features or programs.
Cons: You may get an unstable update.
Although, this does not mean that you cannot do something in Debian. You just have to do a lot by hand.
Plus: you optimize your system yourself, adding only what you need to it.
Minus: not for a beginner, it will take a lot of time to study and assimilate.

Debian 8 is based on significantly older packages than ubuntu 15.10 but is (as a result) more stable. Install Jessie, you won't regret it, and if you need new packages, you can always upgrade to testing.

Better LOOKING will be Ubuntu. There Unity and boring wallpapers.
In Debian, the default is a rat, as far as I remember - her wallpaper is dull.
And what, are you going to SHOW your server to someone, that this issue is more important to you than ease of deployment and stability?
