Difference between stack and cluster?

Hello. What's the difference between virtual stack and switch cluster? After all, in both cases they work as one logical device and have one ip for management.

Difference between stack and cluster?

A stack is a linear connection of switches to increase the number of ports.
You need 200 ports, and the switch has only 24 - stack 9 switches and get one big one for 216 ports.
A cluster is a control structure.
Here you stacked 9 switches - and if you change any settings, you will have to go to each and configure. If you are too lazy to drive the same settings nine times into different switches, then you make a cluster. Just put the control switch - you made settings to it, and he sent them to everyone.

Each manufacturer may interpret concepts differently. But as a rule, a stack is a special cable with the ability to also connect additional power supplies to the entire stack. A cluster is a regular Ethernet and control protocols on it.
