Development for apple tv, is it real?

Hello. I purchased this device and became interested in whether it is possible to develop some kind of application of my own and run it without changing DNS and other dances with tambourines.
Or is it a completely closed system?

I am not a connoisseur and not a fan of Apple systems, but if you do something like a jailbreak, then everything is possible, only users will have little confidence in this.
