Deferral period for Terminal Licensing Services in a leased OS?
Good day to all, such an interesting legal dilemma has arisen, it is very interesting to hear the opinion of habravchans on this issue (especially those “involved”).
A certain “spherical in a vacuum” organization rents out dedicated servers (in the common people - “dedics”, as we will continue to call them), so he rents out the dedicated servers not only as a “piece of iron”, but also provides some software, in particular Microsoft operating systems of the Windows Server 2008 R2 family , as well as in the appendage, all offer terminal server licenses in the same lease.
As for the role of the terminal server, then probably to many (who are not from Mars, another galaxy, a parallel POSIX dimension - underline as necessary), then Microsoft kindly provides 120 days of trial use, by themselves, for greater importance, called the “Terminal Services Licensing grace period » It is available in the system until the license server is activated.
So, some "spherical in a vacuum" organization, apparently does not want to give its customers the opportunity to take advantage of freebie user rights by pre-installing the OS with an already activated licensing server (empty).
(Apparently, we have not rented anything yet, but we are just thinking, considering options - negotiations on this topic are extremely sluggish, and it is understandable why)
And yet, what do you think (and maybe even know for sure) Dura Lex would have ordered to do it? is it possible, by referring to a certain document, to force a certain spherical organization in a vacuum, or am I wrong and should be burned by copyright
PS: They have a "Terms of Use for MICROSOFT Software" I assure you there is not a word about it, attempts to google any restrictions for The leased OS did not bring anything special either.

Contact your local Microsoft affiliate for licensing questions. Something seems to me that the partner (for the sale of these Dediks) either messed up, or cheated something.
I used to work in an MS partner, and the Dedik was provided to the client with an honest 2008p2, an honestly activated terminal server for the required number of licenses, plus a couple more for admins, which was honestly reported to Microsoft.
