DataProvider in YII and data processing?

Good afternoon!
There was a task before transfer of the data in a widget to process them. I don't understand where is this done?
I receive data from ActiveRecord in DataProvider.

for example, this option: received through AR / QueryBuilder, then processed with output to an array, the array was transferred to the widget using ArrayDataProvider.
