Cross-platform development environment for a mobile application with geoservices?
The task is to develop a client-server application for mobile clients with geoservices and client dispatching. Roughly and conditionally like yandex taxi or Uber.
With the backend, everything is very clear.
For drawing maps, building routes and geocoding (coordinates <--> points of interest) on the client, I liked Yandex services, because they are already ready. These services, however, are provided by Yandex as a javascript library (and not as an HTTP or socket API). Some calls to the native device API are needed - GPS positioning for example (the list of requirements is generally small).
I would like soft-real-time responsiveness. (This is more of a wish and not a requirement) There is no budget
to pay for a full-fledged team of native mobile developers. Our team is much closer to backend than to mobile.
After some googling, we are leaning towards PhoneGap to produce at least a working prototype. The possibility of developing this prototype in the future into a full-fledged mobile application is important. (For this reason, xamarin was minus. We decided it was better to quickly prototype and then give it to the natives to rewrite than to study heavy xamarin for a long time and then stay on it.)
Please share your experience, who has it.
