Cross browser insertion of svg icons?

I recently asked a question about inserting svg, I tried all the options. Now I want to write a taxi in Galpe, but how relevant is the support of old browsers now and perhaps some special cases in specific browsers with the work of svg. Some of the articles are already outdated. An interesting piece of advice from a layout designer / frontend developer, for example, some large project where maximum support is due to business. Because for a simple project, few people will still check all the options, any solution will do, most will work. I want to have a couple of tasks to quickly change if necessary.
Decided to use symbol and svg4everybody fallback for now. If you do not rely on js, then it seemed like an adequate solution for 2 sprites (svg, png) and a multiple background in css. Looking at css tricks comparisonicon fonts and svg , I thought it was better not to use them.
Or choose one option, for example symbol and svg4everybody , and then start from the order and look at the necessary support, so I already looked at what options there are and in which case I know how to do everything.
In general, what method do you use if your company is a fairly large store, for example?
PS Although I personally think that maximum cross-browser compatibility is not the most important thing, there are much more important things when working with a site. But they no longer relate to the tasks of the typesetter.

@Casufi

https://caniuse.com/#feat=svg shows browser usage statistics in general and by country. There, decide whether half a percent of users are important to you or not.
