Cooling stand for laptop
Hey Habr! With the end of winter and the arrival of warm days, one question has become relevant. My main computer is a laptop, I sit on my knees with it at home, and although it heats up quite acceptable (~48 degrees for the CPU and ~53 for the video card), sometimes it’s hot for me personally :) I know that there are “cooling pads” for laptops, just for such occasions. I'm wondering if there is any point in such a thing, and it would be nice to see a couple of specific options, preferably inexpensive, because the thing, in my opinion, is pointless enough to give a lot of money for it.

At this temperature, there is no point in additional cooling. An ordinary, non-cooling pad, such as www.logitech.com/ru-ru/notebook-products/cooling-pads/devices/4841, is enough. I'm putting a big book in :)
I wouldn't recommend a very inexpensive one, because it's known that kroilovo leads to hit-and-run :)
I have this one on my desk - floston.com.tw/products?6-51. Satisfied, helpful. My beech gets very hot during games. Well, it raises the screen at the same time to a comfortable level.

buy a table
if you don't want a table and want scoliosis, then look for a laptop stand without a cooling pad in Ikea
Stands serve to release air from the ventilation holes (when he is kneeling, the holes in the bottom are closed). And there are also stands with a cooler (s) for additional cooling.
The cheapest way to get such a stand is to take a piece of plywood the size of a laptop. You can also drill holes in it and attach a pack of coolers.
I took Notepal W2, it helps by 10 degrees under heavy load (games). If you do not play (for example, the office), then it will drop 2 degrees.

Cooler Master NotePal X2
I use this one, good fan size, noisy at high speeds, at low speeds you can only hear in complete silence, the air flow is good, at the time of purchase it was not a pity any solutions with 200-220mm fans
A couple of options - one , two .
But this is mainly to cool the laptop itself, and not the knees)
To protect the legs from overheating, you can have such a thing. Laudatory comments in the topic (especially about "It's convenient with her, the legs are just right") - do not read, because it's disgusting. Uncomfortable legs. But, if you do not lay it out, it will come down.
Although in this case, a strong plastic folder for papers on A4 helped me just as well.
I had a small, fairly powerful Sony Vaio SZ. I bought a cooling pad just for gaming. Belkin F5L001er. Very noisy but light. Cope with the task, the computer did not overheat. Wouldn't recommend for use on knees
With coolers and other active crap, in principle, it is not necessary to buy / do it yourself, it will be much easier to just have a piece of plywood that will simply free up the lower holes for air circulation. This will be enough. And he will not “burn” you and the cooling will work in full.
I'm puzzled by this problem myself.
I will choose from thermaltake or zalman
www.thermaltakeusa.com/Products.aspx?C=1135
www.zalman.com/ENG/product/CategorySecond_Pic.asp?categoryname=Coolers&categorySecond=CAS5
In the meantime, I will tell you my recipe for a collective farm bike. I take a baking sheet from the oven (the size of a laptop), and under it I put 3 gel thermal bags from the set for the Thermos cooler bag - 2 hours of quiet work and silence (ssd and fan does not turn on), if you buy 3 more bags and cool in turn ...
